Last week, my long-time client, Calvin Taylor, author of New Words, shared how he'd received an email from a reader that blew him away: “Your book freed me of the fear that had been my constant companion throughout my life and replaced it with a sense of profound love and joy.”
Inspired by the feedback, Calvin started working with small groups, using the book as a study guide. He’s found his calling by providing deeply moving experiences based on the wisdom in his book.
Do you dream about having that kind of impact and love for your work?
While we don't always know exactly how our book or writing will affect others, we often imagine the powerful feeling of transforming people's lives with our writing.
It can be easy to write when we feel that initial burst of passion and excitement. It's also easy to lose that momentum. Am I right?
Reconnect with your passion
Remember the day you started your writing project—be it a book, a blog or something else? Remember the excitement you felt—the thought of how that writing will go out into the world and change something for your readers?
Whether you're writing a book, a blog post, an article or a short story, often the biggest problem for most writers is getting the writing done.
Overcome Life’s Distractions
Before you ever sit your butt in the chair—or wherever it is you write—a world of distractions can pull you away: work, clients, kids, your inner critic, that niggling voice that says no one will read this. I’m sure you can add to this list! Let’s not.
The solution, of course, is simple: make it super easy and enticing to write.
I've designed Get Your Writing Done to do just that.
Through setting intention and warming up with playful, yet powerful exercises, plus creating space for writing on the call, Get Your Writing Done will:
“I Found My Voice.”
“I kept putting my hopes of writing a book on hold, because I felt I couldn’t do it. Lisa’s soft nudges and inspirational energy make me feel nurtured yet expertly guided. Lisa helped me find my voice and enjoy writing, despite being a novice.
“Even with little free time on my part, Lisa has helped me to breathe life into the writing. I achieved more with Lisa in two months than in 5 years of attempting to do this myself.
“Lisa helped me with my book proposal and chapters and I signed a contract with a major publisher. We sold 15,000 books in the first month.”
Stop feeling alone in the journey and get inspired and in action by the group momentum.
Twice a month we'll get together for a 2-hour virtual writing workshop to help you make progress on your book or any other writing.
- Every call will start with a quick intention setting where we each share a word in the chat box for our intention for the session.
- We’ll follow that with one or two of my fun creativity boosters to elevate your mood and help you easily enter a state of flow—a grounding breathing practice, a visualization to meet your creative muse or a 30-second dance party.
- From there you can work directly on an ongoing project or choose from several writing prompts if you are in a more experimental phase of writing.
- You'll also get a copy of "The TENER Method for Creative Flow" - a simple system to help you stay inspired and writing "in the zone."
** How this course is different from most other Zoom conferences:
If you've been on a lot of Zoom calls, you may suffer from Zoom fatigue--it's fun for a while and then it's exhausting!
In Get Your Writing Done, you'll spend most of your time writing, not screen gazing. Plus we'll breathe deeply and move our bodies.
BREATHE. Move. WRITE.
Zip. Zap. Zup. Just like that, you’ll be writing in the flow.
(That’s a “Froggy” Reference, a family favorite book series that helped my sons learn to read.)
While many people will be working on a book, you can also write blog posts, essays, poetry, short stories, an op/ed piece, a podcast script or anything else you’re ready to work on.
